Acle Bridge – Competition Designs
The design seeks to capture the poeticism of the Norfolk Broads through the interplay between water, reed, flooding and reflection. The layout is defined by flood patterns on the site, with the buildings being raised to remain a place of refuge in a severe flood event.
The design of these striking conical structures would provide an outstanding landmark on this sensitive site, responding to context by referencing local forms and materials. These forms would create a new visitor attraction for the National Park, raising the profile of the Norfolk Broad’s special qualities.
