Since our foundation in 1987, the practice philosophy has
remained clear in a belief that every project is unique
Jane Darbyshire founded the practice in 1987, with David Kendall joining soon after as a Partner. Jane and David’s design and work ethos has become embedded in the practice and remains at the core of how we manage our business and approach our work today: we put time and energy into understanding our clients’ objectives, needs and aspirations; we respond sensitively and imaginatively to site constraints and opportunities; we understand materials and construction and the importance of craftsmanship in detailing. Jane and David are now retired from the Practice .
JDDK Architects became an Employee Ownership Trust in 2022, a natural development of our long-term business ethos of collaborative team work, retaining and developing staff and supporting equality and inclusion.
