Walker (Wave 1) Retrofits
We were the Retrofit Coordinators and Retrofit Designers for this 242no. property scheme in Walker, Newcastle. It was funded under Wave 1 of the Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund.
We worked with Newcastle City Council at the funding bid stage to select properties for their suitability and to assist in the outline specification. Properties were a mixture of non-traditional Airey DuoSlab houses and flats, and traditional cavity-built bungalows. Energy efficiency measures included windows, doors, external wall insulation, loft insulation, PV panels, and ventilation upgrades.
We followed the PAS 2035 process throughout, as Retrofit Coordinators, identifying Archetypes, preparing the Risk Assessment, Improvement Option Evaluations, Medium Term Improvement Plans, and Retrofit Designs. We followed the scheme throughout the site phase, making weekly site visits for quality checks, and prepared a post-project evaluation. As the properties were completed, we lodged the work with TrustMark into their Data Warehouse and prepared scheme data for the client’s submissions to DESNZ.
The scheme was completed in early 2024 and is predicted to save over 250 tonnes of carbon per year, with a total of 128 kWp of new PV capacity added.
