Beadnell Point, Northumberland
This holiday village in Beadnell, Northumberland offers private holiday accommodation within a secure environment and contributes high quality housing and landscaping design to the fabric of the existing village. The development includes a café opposite the village car park.
JDDK designed the 40 holiday dwellings on the site to have a contemporary English seaside touch. This style has created a new character specific to the area whilst using the language of traditional seaside building vernacular. The site layout has an informal feel. House designs maximise southerly aspects and key views, whilst ensuring each property has its own private outdoor space. The site is connected to the rest of the village by cycle and pedestrian routes.
The landscape reinstates the original landscape ecology and profile of this dramatic and protected coastline. The landscaping and sculpting of the land give a sense of identity to a predominately flat area, reflecting the sand dunes which form part of the natural landscape.
